The Legends Festival Photography at Blaise Castle, Bristol

In August I was asked to cover the Bristol Legends Festival in the grounds of Blaise Castle, Bristol. Starlight Concerts were specifically after a new set of images to advertise and promote future events, and as a documentary event photographer I enjoyed the opportunity to observe and record the absolutely electric atmosphere of Legends.

I’d never been to a tribute act festival before, but was blown away by the standard of musicianship and performances. The tribute bands emulated their heroes to pitch-perfect effect, and in a rain-soaked Bristol field, it’s testament to their performances that the crowd’s energy and enthusiasm was still turned all the way up to 11! It could be easy to forget at some points that it wasn’t actually Queen, or Take That, who were entertaining Legends families.

My style of documentary event photography is primarily to observe and record the authentic atmosphere and real details of the event as it really happens, without manipulating or directing the scene myself. So it was a real pleasure to record the vibrance, energy and spectacle of the Bristol Legends Festival.
