Frequently Asked Questions
JUST A FEW ANSWERS TO SOME OF THE MOST COMMON QUESTIONS.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

If you would like to book photography for your event or wedding, the first thing is to get in touch to see if I'm available. I'm taking bookings for 2023 and beyond, and can get booked more than a year in advance. I'd be very happy to give you a no obligation quote to see if we can work together. You can drop me a line however you wish - click here to find out how.

how far can you travel?

I have travelled across the UK to take photographs, and distance is no object.

WHAT DO YOU CHARGE?

I work on a sliding scale, to provide you with as much photography as I can within your personal budget. Prices start from £390. To find out more, click here.

how QUICKLY WILL I RECEIVE MY PHOTOGRAPHS?

I understand the pressures of press deadlines and social media. If you need me to prioritise the most important images, then just let me know. I can usually provide you with a selection of time-critical images at the end of day, or within 24 hours.

Other than that, I believe in quality over speed. Generally speaking, I can provide you with a complete selection of edited images within 1-2 weeks. The exception is wedding photography, which could take between 2-6 weeks. Please bear in mind that timings will always depend upon my schedule and availability.

If you have ordered a wedding album, then this would extend the timings by a further 4 weeks at least - although you're welcome to have your images first, and then order an album at a later date!

how WILL I RECEIVE MY IMAGES?

I will provide all images for you in a password-protected online gallery, from which you can download them directly to any computer or device.

I will provide you with full-size images, with no watermark. I will also provide you with web-optimised images that are best for web and social media. The web-optimised images come with a watermark, but I can leave this off on request.

I can also provide all images on USB drive if required, at no extra cost.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH MY IMAGES?

Private clients (i.e. not a business): You are free to share, print and enjoy your images however you wish, forever! I just ask you not to sell images, enter them into competitions, or use them for advertising (not that I'd expect you'd do that anyway). To use the technical term, it's called an ongoing, non-exclusive licence of personal use. I retain copyright for all images, which is standard practice (without that, I couldn't showcase my own work).

Corporate and business clients: I'll ask you how you're going to use the images before we start, to make sure I give you the correct fixed-term licence. Although, this only really applies for images that would be used for advertising and promotion. For coverage of - for example - a corporate party, I would probably grant the same licence as described for private clients. Copyright for all images remains with me.

WHAT ABOUT IMAGE SAFETY?

My camera backs up images to a second memory card as I shoot. I have a backup camera, backup lenses, backup flash units, backup batteries and basically everything I need to keep shooting in the unlikely event of an equipment malfunction.

Your photographs are backed up on computer, external hard-drive and cloud drive - not to mention your personal, password-protected online gallery. I generally keep my images backed up for as long as reasonably possible - so even if you lose your USB stick, the chances are I'll be able to replace it for you.

ARE YOU INSURED?

I am fully insured, and so is my equipment.

WHAT ABOUT COVID?

If your event is postponed due to Covid, please get in touch as soon as possible to let me know. I will re-schedule with you to photograph the event on a new date, at the same rates. If I cannot make the new date due to an existing booking, I will offer you a full refund of any deposit paid and can assist you in finding a replacement photographer.

If you need to cancel your event due to Covid, please get in touch with me as soon as possible. I will refund any deposit paid.

MORE ON COVID SAFETY

I undertake to keep abreast of all local Covid regulations that may affect your event. I always carry hand sanitiser with me, and am happy to wear a face mask for the duration of your event if necessary.
